MPT, in partnership with IDOT and the Illinois APA, pioneered a groundbreaking program on recycling asphalt pavement (RAP) that showcases the reuse of existing asphalt back into new roadways. It outlines the stringent quality control measures needed for RAP, promoting the use of less petroleum and saving production costs. The series of informative seminars, which have been offered to hundreds of local agencies and individuals, present ‘user friendly’ recycling specifications that are easy to understand and put into use.

The Illinois Recycling Association recently honored the initiative with a 2007 annual award on recycling.
